Most AI girlfriend apps on Android are free to download, but not everything inside them is free. Typical free versions let you chat and try the basics, then offer paid extras such as more messages, voice, photos, or extra characters. Sammi is free to download on Google Play, with optional in-app purchases.
What “free” usually means
| Term | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Free to download | You can install the app at no cost. |
| Free tier | Core chat is available, with limits on some features. |
| In-app purchases | Optional credits or items for extras. |
| Subscription | A recurring plan that unlocks more features or higher limits. |
| Free trial | Paid features are unlocked for a short time, then billing may begin. |
Always read the listing and the purchase screen. Pricing and limits change, so check the current details for any app you try.
Where limits often appear
- Message limits per day or per hour.
- Voice calls, which cost more to run than text.
- Images and selfies.
- Memory depth or the number of characters you can create.
- Speed, where free users may wait longer for replies.
How to try free AI girlfriend apps without overspending

- Check the Google Play listing for “In-app purchases” and the price range shown.
- Read the purchase screen carefully before tapping buy. Avoid anything that is unclear.
- Never enter payment details outside Google Play.
- Manage subscriptions in Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions, so you can cancel any time.
- Set a monthly limit for yourself before you begin.
Free is not the same as private
A free app still needs to be trustworthy with your data. Check the Privacy Policy and the Data safety section on the listing. Our guide on whether AI girlfriend apps are safe explains what to look for.
